Welcome to our Dojo!
Phoenix Martial Arts School has been running since 2011 and pride ourselves on our practical style of martial arts.
What "style" is it?
Our style combines multiple martial arts styles such as Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Western Boxing, Muay Thai, Kung Fu and Jui Jitsu. We take the practical aspects of each and encourage people to adopt which style is better suited to them in which situation.
Philosophy and Purpose
Our martial arts style is a combination of striking, blocking, movement, tactics, locks and grapples put together by our Master Anthony Phoenix, from over thirty years of martial arts experience.
The style is constantly evolving and changing as Anthony gains more knowledge and as other masters of different styles join the group to learn what we teach and share what they know.
Our aim is to deliver a flexible martial art, designed for the purpose of being a form of self expression, becoming more attuned to your body and environment and to serve as an effective, to-the-point, self defence system for the society in which we live.
As our style is non-competitive, we don't have any tournaments or competitions. We make the focus of your training to better yourself in the realisation that there is no opponent greater than your own self.
Session Times and Pricing
We have one Kids Martial Arts Sessions (kids Aged 7+) and two Adult Martial Arts Sessions per week.
We've also got a little dragons program for the mini kids (ages 4-5) which is run as a casual class for only $7.5! The little dragons class doesn't require term sign ups.
For the kids and adult classes, you may come to as many classes per week as you wish to book in for.
Our session costs are $16.50 per session. If you have more than one person from the same household attending, we reduce our rate to $15.50 per person, per session. We do this to make it more affordable for families with multiple kids/adults who wish to attend.
We require that you book in for the entire Term as we have limited places available. Adult terms usually go for 12 weeks and Kids terms usually go for approximately 10 weeks in line with the school terms.
We do allow trials, so if you're interested, call Ant on 0422 223 562 to book for a completely obligation free (and no hassling call backs) trial.

Adult Classes
The Adult Martial Arts classes are catered towards giving adults the ability to fend off larger opponents. Our tactics include group scenarios, which are highly likely situations in which you may find yourself in this day and age.
We have two classes available. Monday 7pm-8pm and Friday 5:30pm-6:30pm.
These classes focus on Grappling, Striking Techniques and Strategy. They have various focus points, from footwork, to punches, to blocking, to redirection, to locks and holds, to movement, to conditioning and offers varied levels of sparring, both Semi and Full Contact.
Kids Classes
WE HAVE A NO TOLERANCE POLICY WITH REGARDS TO BULLYING!
We have very strict policies on bullying and are taking an active role in bully prevention in our area.
If you are a School Teacher of one of our students, then download our Teacher Anti Bully form here!
If you are a parent of one of our students' Peers, then download our Peer Anti Bully Form here!
We have three kids classes available, as well as a mini kids class. We have two styles of class, one for grappling and one for stand up techniques, both essential to keep your child safe in today's environment.
You can have your child attend once per week or twice per week, depending on how often you would like the sessions.
Small Kids: Wednesday 4pm-4:30pm.
The Small Kids class focuses on kids aged between 4-6 years of age. Kids in this bracket are mainly focused on discipline and respect of others. The general aim and focus of the current term is taught whilst recognising that kids of this age group need a little less combat skill and more encouragement, self awareness, coordination and situation awareness.
Intermediate Kids: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 4:30pm-5:30pm.
The Intermediate Kids classes are catered to the 6-12 age bracket. The kids in this class have more coordination and a better understanding of more advanced concepts. they are also subject to a different style of bullying at these ages, so we tend to teach a different array of techniques, with more of a focus on sparring and direct conflict situations.

Anthony Phoenix
The Rising Phoenix style is a mixture of martial arts, with the aim of making a solid style to be used for self defence. The Rising Phoenix style is not a competition style and as such, we do not enter into competition fighting. We promote humility and non-aggression in our classes. My own personal philosophy is such that I believe competition changes the art form into a sport, taking it away from the arts highest purpose of self defence. That's not to take anything away from the integrity of other methods which enter into the competitive arena, I fully appreciate that competition styles require incredible levels of skill and discipline in their own right. I personally feel that to encourage and enter my students, using my techniques, into competition would be a betrayal of my personal understanding of the martial arts; hence the development of my style, absent the competitive side of the forms. The style combines aspects of Kung-Fu, Muay Thai, Western Boxing, BJJ, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Weapons Training, Meditation Training and Chakra Building.. The martial arts are constantly evolving. Over the centuries there have been many focal points for the arts, from weapons, to sports, to stand up fighting to wrestling style fighting to flowing gentle styles to hard uncompromising styles.. In the past 100 years alone we have seen an unparalleled sharing of knowledge, bringing about new and interesting ways to look at the arts. There is an endless sea of martial knowledge to be exposed to and a life time is not nearly enough to master any of it, let alone bring our own flair and style into some sort of meaningful form.. We all do our best. I hope that you come train with us, learn what you can and share what you know. |
